Couples Offer Cheese Cakes At Weddings

Some couples are migrating toward a new trend in wedding cakes: stacked cheeses standing in for more traditional fruitcakes. The wedding “cake” is made from a stack of assorted round cheeses, and decorating them, much like a traditional wedding cake – save the frosting and other surgary decorations. The trend seems to have started in Britain, but is making waves around the world, especially in New Zealand.

Couples are finding that offering a “cheese” cake instead of the traditional sweet fare is a hit with guests, who are looking for something different. Brides who are considering a not-so-sweet wedding treat for their guests shouldn’t expect to save much money; a cake made of cheese will cost about the same as a traditional wedding cake. The cost will vary, of course, depending upon the variety of cheeses used and how large the “cheese” cake needs to be to serve all of the wedding guests.
