There are many reasons why couples choose to send out save the date cards to their guests. There are many advantages to sending save the date cards and each will help make the wedding process a little bit smoother.
Save the date cards should be sent out anywhere from six months to a year prior to the wedding. The point of sending out these save the date cards and the biggest advantage to sending them early is so that wedding guests are aware of the wedding date well in advance. This makes it so that they will not schedule anything else on that same date. Hence, they are called save the date cards. Ensuring that all important guests will be there on the day of the wedding is the biggest advantage to sending a save the date card.
Another advantage to sending save the date cards is that it will alert guests to the upcoming nuptials. Since many guests are distant relatives or family friends that may have no idea that the couple was even together, the save the date cards will give them the opportunity to get in touch with the bride and groom prior to the wedding and send their congratulations. Save the date cards are a wonderful way to unite guests with the bride and groom.
Many couples are unsure whether or not to send out save the date cards. Many couples feel that they are unnecessary or they feel that the wedding invitations are enough. This is a personal choice of course; however the bride and groom should be aware of the advantages that save the date cards can offer. The advantages of save the date cards are numerous. For some guests, when they receive their wedding invitation there may not be enough notice for them to be able to make the necessary travel arrangements. Giving guests the time to prepare for the wedding and literally save the date for the nuptials is the biggest advantage that the bride and groom can have for themselves and their guests.
