An Invitation To A Wedding

October 3, 2007

Wedding invitations transmit a lot of information to wedding guests, so your choice of invitation is important. Invitations come in an almost endless spectrum of styles and colours. Adventurous couples design their own invitations or have them custom-made.

Your invitation should reflect the type of wedding you’re planning. If you plan to have an informal beach wedding, a classic formal invitation may send the wrong message to your guests about the type of event they should plan for. If your wedding is simple and casual, choose casual invitations. A more formal invitation should be reserved for a more formal wedding.

Your invitations should transmit all of the important information to your guests about your event. This includes the full names of the couple, the date, location and time of the ceremony. The invitation should also include information about the reception location, the start and end times of the event, and other pertinent information. Don’t forget to indicate the last day to respond to an invitation. Maps and registry information can be included on a separate sheet of paper.

Your invitation should be easy to read. This may mean avoiding extremely ornate script fonts, and certain paper colour-and-ink combinations. The type should be large enough to be read. If your chosen wording does not easily fit on your wedding invitation, ask your stationer for suggestions on how to fit your wording onto your invitations.

Choose a high-quality stationer to print your invitations. You can find excellent invitations at a reasonable cost, so there’s no reason to settle for low quality printing.
