Monaco is waiting for word of a royal wedding for Prince Albert II and his girlfriend. The prince has been keeping company with South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock. The couple met at the Winter Olympics in Turin.Prince Albert II ascended the throne upon the death of his father, Prince Ranier in 2005. Albert, who has never been married, has two children born out of wedlock. Under the laws of Monaco, they cannot inherit the throne. If Prince Albert does not marry or have children, the throne will pass to Princess Caroline’s children.
The 29 year-old Wittstock has accompanied the Prince at several important royal events in the last few months, fueling speculation that a royal wedding is in the works. Wittstock has also been seen frequently in the company of Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie.
