Having A Hen’s Night?
August 29, 2007
A traditional duty of the bride’s maid (or matron) of honour is to organise a hen’s night for the bride-to-be. Your mates may have different ideas of what constitutes fun, and they should ask you about what you would like, but if they don’t, be up-front about what you want and don’t want at your get-together.
For example, if you would find having male entertainment at your hen’s night embarrassing or awkward, make that clear to your pals. They want you to have a good time and enjoy yourself before your special day, but may not know exactly how to pull that off. On the other hand, you may be perfectly at home with the festivities your friends have lined up. In that case, just be ready to let the good times roll.
A hen’s night can take many forms, and doesn’t even need to be held at night! A brunch or luncheon with your friends may provide just the break you need from your wedding worries! For a daytime affair, suggest that your pals organise a masseuse (or masseur) for a relaxing massage in place of adult entertainment.
A popular option for a hen’s night is a “Booze Cruise.” Many companies offer such “instant” parties, but your pals will be well advised to book in advance. Also, try to get your pals to schedule your ladies’ night out a few weeks before your wedding. The days leading up to your wedding day will be filled with stress and activities that will make it more difficult to enjoy a little down time with your friends.
