Planning for the Unexpected on the Day of the Wedding

September 27, 2007

There will be many unexpected occurrences on the day of the wedding, it is planning for the unexpected that will allow the bride and groom some piece of mind prior to their big day. Many of this planning will not need to be done until the wedding draws nearer, so it is not necessary to worry too much as the planning progresses. Unexpected things happen, but planning for the unexpected will help the wedding day to run more smoothly.

The week before the wedding, it is necessary to call all of the vendors and confirm the date, time, and location. This should be enough, but emergencies occur. The best way to avoid not having a photographer or a DJ or any important vendor show up on the day of the wedding is to use a service that has multiple people available. This might mean that the specific photographer you chose may not be the one that shows up. This is better than not having anyone show up at all.

It is the responsibility of the bridal party and specifically the maid of honor and best man to tend to the possible unexpected events during the wedding. The couple should give these important people a list of names, vendors, and telephone numbers in order to make sure that everything runs smoothly. These two people should be willing to help work through the unexpected on the day of the wedding.

An even better way to plan for the unexpected on the day of the wedding is to have a wedding coordinator. Some wedding coordinators will work just for the day, while others will require being involved in the entire wedding planning process. This is something that will depend on what the wedding budget will allow. It is the job of the wedding coordinator to plan for all of the possible unexpected occurrences on the day of the wedding.

There is no way to be completely prepared for the unexpected that may occur on the day of the wedding. The important thing to remember is that the day is about love and commitment and the ceremony and vows are much more important than the florist forgetting to send the flower girl’s bouquet!
