Where Should You Seat The Dates Of The Wedding Party
September 24, 2007
Many brides choose to seat the wedding party together at the reception, but this doing this raises the question of where the companions of wedding party members should be seated.
If you’re facing this situation, you have a few obvious choices. If companions of the wedding party members will not be seated at the head table, you could seat the companions together at a companions’ table. This might seem ideal to you, but the companions may feel left out and uncomfortable, especially if they do not know many guests at your wedding.
If the companion knows other guests at your wedding, you could choose to seat them separately with people they already know and would be comfortable with. If not, you could seat them with family members or close friends of the bride or groom.
Regardless of who you seat companions with, they will likely feel most comfortable being seated close to the head table. If you assign seating for your guests, be sure to leave an empty chair wherever you end up seating a companion. At some point during the evening, your wedding party member will want to join his or her date, and having an open seat at the companion’s table will facilitate that.
If you plan to go without designated seating at your wedding, then the companions can sit wherever they feel most comfortable.
